ASU Mid-South promotes Jeff Walls to head softball coach

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. – ASU Mid-South has named Jeff Walls as the college's new head softball coach.

Walls, who previously served as the Greyhounds' lead assistant softball coach, will take over the program after serving as a key part of the team's leadership and development. He brings 19 years of coaching experience at the high school and collegiate levels, including both head and assistant coaching roles in softball.

"Jeff has been an important part of our softball program, and we are excited for him to continue building on the foundation that has been established," said ASU Mid-South Athletic Director Jeremy Reece. "His experience, knowledge of the game and commitment to developing student-athletes made him the right choice to lead our program moving forward."

Before joining ASU Mid-South, Walls coached at DeSoto Central High School in Southaven, Mississippi, where he helped the baseball program win three Mississippi state championships in 2015, 2018 and 2019. Throughout his coaching career, he has helped numerous student-athletes in both baseball and softball continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

A native of Batesville, Mississippi, Walls attended Northwest Mississippi Community College, where he played baseball and football for the Rangers before continuing his baseball career at Delta State University.

"I am honored and excited for the opportunity to lead the ASU Mid-South softball program," Walls said. "I want to continue building a culture that emphasizes hard work, accountability and family while helping our student-athletes succeed on the field, in the classroom and in life. I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with these student-athletes and represent ASU Mid-South."

The Greyhounds will begin fall season later this year before opening the 2027 regular season in February.
